Although I recently reformatted it with Win10, ISTR my home Windows Media Server box ran a home server variant of Win7, and it could see my SMB2-only NAS just fine. SMB1 can still be re-enabled in Win10 (if you have admin rights), or better yet you can find an update for Win7 that enables SMB2. Better IMHO to have a desktop shortcut to an Explorer view of the network location "\\hostname\sharename".Īnother likely possibility is that you have a Win10 host which now disables SMB network sharing by default, MS having deprecated it some years ago for security and performance reasons and replaced it with SMB2. ![]() ![]() Personally I find shared drive letters a pain - they are always going stale. If it's a true network share then make sure that Z is mapped to a location that's still being shared. If it's a Guest Additions shared folder then check the VM configuration, specifically the "Shared Folders" panel, and make sure that the host folder being shared still exists. No, your question isn't lost, it just IMHO isn't really a VirtualBox question, it's a question about Windows networking. ![]()
